Buy a modern 'universal' player such as the Pioneer DV-575A.

Why do you even bother saying that to a naim owner? He doesn't want
something that's been technically perfect for ten years, he wants
something that makes music.

If you want something that makes music, isn't that a musical
instrument?

Are you saying that Naim equipment should be compared with say, an
electric guitar?

a guitar is, like a cd player, a tool for reproducing music.

No, a guitar is an instrument for *producing* music.

I've had guitars for years and neither of them have made music, I've had
to do all the work.

And did you choose your guitar because it so superbly reproduced the
sound of your fingers twanging strings, or for the distinctive tone of
the whole instrument?

And, if you ever cut a record, would you want some second-rate CD
player *changing* that sound?
