what audio chip should I look for?
None, get a usb-audio interface, they start cheap (creative) and go to pro
stuff (digidesign, m-audio, motu) so plenty of choice. Or get one with a
digital out and an outboard DAC.
thanks for the advise
in between I was busy searching. because maybe the multimedia OS or the
fanless CPU system does not support the USB audio interface. I wonder if
this digital out + outboard DAC would save me money because I'm saving some
Euro on the board/audio interface and invest in a new digital amplifier -
unfortunately my two old sony amps live forever...
bud coming back to the research. The via VT1617a seems to be the best choice
http://www.via.com.tw/en/products/audio/codecs/
(others are the alc250 or alc203
http://www.realtek.com.tw/products/p....aspx?lineid=5) board
http://www.logicpd.com/eps/sbc/amd/geode_nx/ is much to expensive compared
to the via epia...
Unfortuntaly the SP board is 160 EURO more expensive than the cheapest via
epia 5000
http://www.viaembedded.com/product/e...herboardId=261
so maybe the abit usb theater ua10 will be given a try - its only 55 euro.
