I should like to buy something simliar to the Bose Acoustic Wave system.
Can anyone recommend these or perhaps there are better systems which are
cheaper as these seem very expensive. I am only interested in quality
systems.
Thanks.
Dear Sally,
You will get a whole raft of posts saying that Bose stuff is a complete
waste of time. I've never heard any and can only respond to what others have
said, and to sum that up; these 'tricks' are just that and nothing more.
Personally I like to listen to music in the traditional way; stereo
amplifier and two speakers, if these are set up in the right way, roughly a
6Ft triangle with the speakers toed in slightly then the effect is as if you
are there at the concert or in front of the piano or whatever. I can see no
reason to change other than by using better equipment. Again personally I
think that once you have acheived a certain standard the differences become
so small as to be indistinguishable.
I would read this and other forums for a few weeks and then decide.
For a starting point find out about the Rogers LS3/5a which was designed by
the BBC as an outside broadcast monitor and had to conform to a
specification which the BBC laid down, even today they are held in awe and
still copied.
