BBC Proms Radio 3 - relentless stutter

I've just switched through a few DAB stations, and yes, most of them do
seem to show full scale, though there are a few that don't. The ones that

show full scale, but frankly this isn't saying much. Nearly all the
stations seem to be carrying pop music, none of them sound particularly
good, and some of them are quite nasty. Classic FM and Radio 3 seem just
about tolerable - until you switch to FM for comparison, to hear the same
programme played through the same amplifier and loudspeakers (or
headphones), the only difference being the transmission method, and then
you realise what you've been missing.

I rather think that in the case of R3, what you were missing on DAB was the
dynamic compression of FM. It does tend to make the sound more relaxed by
squashing the lumps out. I find R3 on DAB very acceptable, although not
quite as good as it is on Freeview.
I don't listen to any of the pop stations on DAB because they are all
totally unacceptable.
