garrard 40b (sp25) suppression capacitor question
Could always add 120 Ohm in series with a 22 to100nF @650VDC cap. Have often
seen this combi as a 240V mains motor switch contacts suppressor.

blast from the past....I have the above turntable connected to my hi-fi

However, I need to fit a suppression cap across the motor switch, as
every time the deck shuts off a loud click/thump is heard through the
speakers, something which I fear may damage them at any reasonable
volume level. anyone suggest a suitable cap rating?
Maplin part number RG22Y ("Contact suppressor") should meet your
needs.

thanks Chris. Ended up using a 10nF cap, deck works like a champ.
I trust you are using a class X (or better) capacitor - which are
designed for connection across a mains supply. If not, you must change
it for safety reasons.
