I've bought a second hand Rega Planar3 and have just finished setting
it all up (with a Rega Elys Cartridge). Replaced the belt (with an
official one) and away I go, it sounds fantastic......however!! I've
noticed that on passages of music with a sustained note or notes i.e
a string section etc, I can clearly hear the pitch varying up and down
as if the speed of the turntable was not steady, it is not so obvious
during portions of the music where lots is happening. It is failry
subtle (my girlfriend doesn't notice it ) but very distracting and
annoying for me. I have heard it on several LP's and Singles so it's
not a warping problem...does this mean my deck (motor?) is worn
out????



A new belt and cleaning (and re-oiling) the bearing will probably cure this.
