This probably came from the perceived (but sometimes real?) need for the
resistors in the R-2R ladder network to all temperature stabilise to
ensure linearity in the D-A conversion process. No doubt believed by all
journos to apply solidly in all cases, and written in the mantra.

After 30mins the frequency and dynamic response of my system at various
measurement points may have improved on paper. In the same 30mins, my
hearing is sucessfully shot to hell and I'm awaiting Sony to bring out
some funky hifi hearing aids....
