I shall shortly yank the innards out of this computer to replace the
processor and motherboard....

Sempron 3300 - any good? (Best the local guy could offer...??)

No, absolutely terrible. I urge you to stick it in a box and send it to
me, together with your motherboard & RAM for immediate disposal. ;-)

Too late for that!!

They got a few more bits thrown upside them this afternoon:

And it's looking like this, right this minute (OK, 5 minutes ago)!!

Good choice. But when it offers to fire up Norton for you, for
goodness sake tell it to bugger off.

I decided not to pull my dear little eMachine about - it's been/is too damn
good and I'm WiFied anyway, so WTF??

(Now I'm sweating to get Win Doze Ecks Pee on it before the curry's ready!!
:-))

My brother is running a Sempron at the mo. Nice chip. Runs linux well but
I can't recommend any other (inferior) OS, obviously!

Bugger Linux.....

;-)

I have linux on one machine - it is nothing but a file server and
never gets switched off or rebooted. Total stability for about nine
months so far. I wouldn't use it on a machine I actually want to "do"
things with, though.
