Sheesh what a twit.

Mr. McCoy is spinning like a top... a mere twit would have given up
long ago. This is pathology.

Mr. Byrns gave Mr. McCoy an honorable way out, the proper role for an
amanuensis. Sadly his master did not avail himself of the opportunity.
But the relationship is well illustrated.
