Continuous (permanent) is usually the main power feed to the unit, and
gives the supply to the amplifier, and also keeps the station presets,
disc position, etc stored when the unit's switched off.

Switched (accessory) tells the unit when the vehicle ignition's
switched on, allowing the unit to switch on and off with the ignition.
This is usually a relatively low current feed.

In virtually all cases, you need to connect both to get the unit to
work.

Yup normally Red = Perm Live feed and yellow = Switch live.

If you get them the wrong way round you will know, because the stereo will
not hold its memory presets, or the unit will stay on when the ignition is
switched off
