Looking at the possibility of installing a satnav system in my '01
Mondeo. Is there anywhere that do salvage units or 2nd hand factory

Thanks.
Any particular reason for sticking with the factory unit? Aftermarket
units generally offer better functionality, and start at around £500.
You'll also get a warranty, and know that it's going to be possible to
fit without hours spent pouring over Ford fiches trying to track down
obscure parts to complete a secondhand system, etc.
I'd go with that... you'll also get this amazing feature called "sound
quality" which Ford (or visteon or whoever makes them) audio engineers
seem
to go to great lengths to remove from their head units.
Much better unit for a far cheaper price. If I'd just bought a Ford first
thing I'd do would be ripping the OE audio out not trying to replace it
with
a higher model from a lower quality scale ;-).

Thanks for the replies. I only wanted to stay with the OEM equipment because
the existing stereo is an odd size; apparently just less than double din. I
realise I can sort this with faceplating, but just wanted to keep it as
simple as possible. You've talked me out of a foolish purchase, many
thanks;-)
Matt.
