Default Sat-Nav for Mondeo

Thanks for the replies. I only wanted to stay with the OEM equipment
because the existing stereo is an odd size; apparently just less than
double din. I realise I can sort this with faceplating, but just
wanted to keep it as simple as possible. You've talked me out of a
foolish purchase, many thanks;-)
Matt.

No worries :-). It's really easy to change to standard DIN stuff on these
cars though unlike some other models which are pretty horrid when it comes
to replacing the OE junk. Just need to convince my dad to replace the OE
stereo that's fitted in the Mondeo he's just ordered - the 6006 in-dash 6
disc unit, a bit like the one Nakamichi brought out about 8 years ago but
without the sound quality and reliability (I've heard a few stories about
these wannabe Ford units eating discs already).

My personal preference would be for new cars to come with an empty hole (DIN
size of course) to fit a stereo of your choice. The manufacturers don't want
to spend any money on factory-fit stuff so why bother and make it so
difficult for customers to put decent stuff in? It's one area of car design
that's going backwards, 10 years ago almost all cars had DIN stuff so even
though the quality was never there at least it was a 5 minute job to get a
decent unit in there.

Hmmm that kinda turned into a rant, ho hum time to call it a night I think
;-)
