Default Handsfree Kit Installation

I have purchased the various parts that make up the sony erricsson handsfree
car kit for my T610 and now need to install them into my VW Golf Mk4.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to place the control box and how
to route the wires to it for the microphone and for the cradle which I would
like to mount on the dash beside the radio?

I notice next to the interior lights on the roof there is what looks like a
vent for a microphone, does anyone know if there is actually a microphone
behind there?

Where is the best place to get power for the control box? Could I simply
cut into the wires going to the radio and share that power supply?

I would like to purchase an antenna that replaces the existing one on the
roof and works for GSM, GPS and FM signals. I have found one that does this
but does anyone know how easy it would be to drop the headlining down at the
back to gain access to the antenna in order to change it. I would also need
to install two new cables (one for gps and one for mobile) from the antenna
down to the centre console, is this something i could do myself or is it
best to get an installer to do it for me? Does anyone know what type of
connector (in the roof) connects the existing fm aerial to the aerial cable?

With the aid of the haynes manual I had a go at removing part of the centre
console (the bit around the gearstick). Getting it out was relatively easy
however when trying to putting it back in was a different matter. The
plastic clips seem very brital and when the moved around too much they tend
to break. One of these clips that hold that part of the centre console
almost snapped off when trying to put it back so I am very reluctant to move
it again!

It looked like I could mount the control box under where the ash tray was or
further back on top of a silver box (not quite sure what it was - possible
car computer).

I am in two minds whether to have another go doing it myself or paying
someone to do it for me. From my experience at the weekend it seems quite
easy to break the clips which I am very worried about doing. I also
remember when I bought the car (new) one of the plastic tubes in the
passenger footwell had snapped and water from the air conditioning was
pouring into the passenger compartment. One plastic tube cost over £1000
just in labour to fix because all the dash had to come off and the whole
part had to be replaced not just the tube! That was when the car was in
warrantee but now it isn't and if any damage was caused like this again it
would be a nightmare! However I do have my doubts on whether the
professional installers would be as careful as I would. Are they insured if
they break something?

Thanks in advance for your help,
Jon
