Default How to fit a New Head Unit?

I've never fitted one before so apologies for any dumb questions.

I've got a Sony MDX C5970R MD tuner which I cannot get out yet
because you need special Sony clips to remove it. But when I do
remove it, how do I install my new Pioneer DEH P77MP mp3 CD tuner?

Do you simply unplug the connector connected to the Sony MD player
and plug in the Pioneer's connector, or are the wires different? If
the wires are different, how do I find out which wire on the Sony
does what? (I can't find my Sony MD player's manual)

Depends on the connector used on the Sony. If it's an ISO standard
one then you're fine.

I found this:

I know it's in German but the first post is about my Sony MD player and it
mentions that it's got an ISO connector.

As you have a Rover 214 L reg I'm guessing that
it already has the adapter to convert from the factory connector to
ISO, just make sure you leave it in there,

I remember that when I had the Sony installed the bloke at Halfords asked me
if I wanted to buy such and such connector (which I agreed to) so I assume
he has put an ISO connector on for me.

although you do end up
with a lot of cable behind the unit and you have to try and keep it
out of the way of the rear of the unit due to the close fit to the
metal bracket in the console. (I had a 214 H reg, still had the
factory fitted Philips unit so had to get an adapter to fit my
Pioneer DEH-P3500MP, but they're only around £10 - for the cabling I
managed to pull it through to the left from behind by getting my head
under the glove compartment, great fun).

Thanks for your help.
