I found this:

I know it's in German but the first post is about my Sony MD player
and it mentions that it's got an ISO connector.

As you have a Rover 214 L reg I'm guessing that
it already has the adapter to convert from the factory connector to
ISO, just make sure you leave it in there,

I remember that when I had the Sony installed the bloke at Halfords
asked me if I wanted to buy such and such connector (which I agreed
to) so I assume he has put an ISO connector on for me.

It's possible that the Sony uses an ISO block, in which case you'll
have a connector cable you can use with the Pioneer. But if the Sony
doesn't use ISO, then you've got a Rover to Sony connector which is
of no use to you now. You won't really know till you get it all out.
What you should find is that the there is a cable out of the back of
the Sony unit, and a cable coming out of the dash, and a cable
connecting the two together. The Pioneer unit if it's anything like
my 3500 will have a cable with it that connects to the back of the
unit and has an ISO block on the other end - hopefully that will plug
straight into the connector cable Halfords would have fitted. It's
really pretty simple, the blocks are shaped such that they only fit
together one way so it's hard to make a mistake.

Thanks for your help. I went to a car audio place today to ask if they had
clips to get my Sony out but they didn't and they said use a couple of thin
flat-head screwdrivers so I'll try and get it out tomorrow.

Fingers crossed it'll have an ISO connector on it...
