Default Facelifted Mondeo info

This post is really for reference should anyone try to do what I've spent
the last 4 months (..ok, with not much effort!) trying to do ;-)

I've got a '53 & thus facelifted Mondeo with what claims to be a Ford 6000
series CD head unit which is integrated into the fascia unlike the pre '53
models. My challenge was to connect a Creative Jukebox (a device similar to
an IPOD, for those who've not seen one) to it. What intrigued me was an
'AUX' button on the radio - I had hoped that somewhere would be some phono
connectors that I could utilise. The manual accompanying the car didn't
mention anything, Ford dealers didn't know anything, Ford Service didn't
know anything, neither did their helpline and neither did a few local car
audio places . Eventually, after a few emails & ringing around I came
across SoundLinx & their FOR01AUX device looked like it would do the trick.

After a couple of false starts with installers (....didn't fancy doing it
myself) it eventually was ordered by another local company & I went for the
fitting yesterday.

Here comes the useful stuff..

It turns out the FOR01AUX device does NOT work with the 'new' Ford 6000
series radios. The connector is completely different on the back. Well
done Ford.
BUT.... (and I'm sorry if I'm a bit vague on this one) behind the glovebox
(..not visible unless you really start routing around behind it) there is a
connector (not sure if it's phono or 3.5mm jack) which is wired up to the
mystery AUX button on the radio. I *think* the chap fitting it removed an
inline capacitor to get it working, but I'm not entirely sure.

Hope this is of some use to someone :-)

Cheers

Paul.
