I was told on the Fiat newsgroup to move the red and yellow wires on the
Sony harness into different slots. I did this and everything appears fine.
Presumably this is the same as you suggest in option 1 (as it were)!

You will have to connect both the red and yellow from the Sony to the
permanent live in the ISO plug or rewire a new ignition live from the fuse
box, or buy a CAN converter (around £100) which will convert the CAN
signal
to a conventional ignition live, lights on live etc.
