Default Fitting Sub in 2002 Astra.

I fitted an Alpine cda-9833 lst weekend and its a great unit, very happy
with it. I'm a bit lacking in bass through the standard speakers though,
hence wanting a sub in the boot.

Tips on changing the head unit from my experience last week.

1. I had a problem removing my old HU, took car for a service and got them
to remove it in the end. But when I saw how it was held in I've no idea

why
I could not get it out. All I would say is if its seems a bit stuck dont

try
and do what I did. I pulled out the little plastic compartment lower down
the dash and tried to push it from behind (seemed like a good idea as

there
is nothing to get hold of on the front), anyway turns out the cage that
holds it in is a full cage (not the usual half length ones) and has a back
on it, so I was pushing the actual cage not the HU.

2. I bought all the stuff online and was led to believe I needed an aerial
converter but this is not the case. (at least it is not for the 9833
anyway).

3. Its a bit of a mare trying to get all the cables back into the dash,
after a bit of messing about trying to get them all in I bound them all
together and they were not a problem. At this point I did find it usefull

to
put my hand through the hole further down (were I removed the plastic
compartment thing) to pull the cables through.

Good luck. )

In which case, I found some info searching some forums. Apparently you
remove the plastic trim that runs down the side of the footwell,

however
doing it properly involves removeing the seat. Others commented that

they
had simply poked the cables under rather than removing it.

Cheers Gav

Might take a look at the weekend and poke around with the screwdriver

;-)

I've got to buy a head unit yet, looking at the Alpine MP3 range.

Cheers for the info

Pete

Hi Gavin

Any chance of picture on how it looks in your dash, tempted to get the
9833/9835 model of the alpine range, but I would be interested in how that
looks in yours.

Please feel free to email me at

Thanks
