Could this be the affect of having an unpowered aerial amp?
The Bentley book appears to show the aerial being powered from the radio,
so
maybe that particular wire has broken behind the dash somewhere.

More than likely, the RB manula will also have the schematic so you can
easily detect which wire powers the RF amp.
However you can get the correct aerial adaptor see a site like in car
express for the adaptor with the phantom feed for the aerial amp.
