Default Vauxhall Astra Replacement Aerial

"Chris M" wrote in message

Hi,

I've got a Vauxhall Astra 'R' plate, (older shape)
Due to the cunning location of the radio aerial (passenger side rear wing)
a
passing low branch on a narrow country lane has neatly removed it... :-(

Question is, when I replace it, am I better to get a new telescopic one
(like the old one), one of those little short rubber twangy ones, or there
somthing else? I don't want to spend a fortune, 20ish quid seems like
enough. But I want somthing that'll give me good reception.

If it makes any difference (can't see why it would but never mind), the
head
unit I currently have is a Kenwood KDC-3031

Any thought or suggestions gratefully received,

Thanks,

Chris.

If you intend replacing the original 'Telescopic' type then buy a
replacement from a Vauxhall dealer. I tried one from Halfords a year or so
ago and it was basically a piece of junk, the radio reception was worse than
with the broken one it replaced. A replacement from a dealer should cost
around £22.00 and give great reception. Also bear in mind that they are a
'pig' to fit as the plastic lining on the inside of the boot needs to be
removed to get at the mounting that secures the base of the aerial to the
car.
