am a little worried to turn my amp back on at the moment.
i listened to an album this morning. it finished. nothing playing
but amp (primaluna prologue two integrated) and cdp still on. all of
a sudden there was a loudish 'pop' from the right speaker. put it
down to the mains.
then about 60 seconds later another one. switched off the cdp to see
if that was causing it. pop again. turned amp volume down. 30
seconds later pop pop pop. turned amp off worried the speaker was
going to get damaged.
thought i may have heard one of the valves going 'ting' when the pops
were occuring, but not sure.
this has never happened before for as long as i have had the amp (2
months). valves were supposed to have been newly fitted to a pretty
newish second hand amp. have rarely played it very loud, Living Voice
speakers quite sensitive (91db/w/m).
does anyone know what this could be? will the speaker drivers get
damaged if I turn the amp on again to test the valves?
me thinks a valve ?????????
Its unlikly it will produce enough output to hurt the speaker, but why
not be on the safe side, get a cheap pair from a second hand shop, that
way you don't have to worry.
That's funny! The proposed solution to a busted amp is a new pair of
speakers - - - -
You've already been given the fix - buy a proper amp.
