The curious thing about the SS amp is that it starts at
about 63W, then seems to settle down after a minute or
two at 25W. Volume at either of the amps wasn't high - from zero up
to need-to-raise-your-voice - but consumption stayed
about the same. Carry on ...

time. It seems to measure watts accurately, but the
display is rather dim and ironic that it uses 'up to' 20W.

Looks like a slightly brain dead version of a product we have in the US
called a "Kill-A-Watt". The US product will integrate energy usage over time
as well.

The 20 watt power usage is probably due to a voltage drop across the
internal current shunt when the full rated current is being drawn.
