I have got 12v going out to the CD changer, so the problem there
must be with the adapter/cabling (it's a Sony CD changer), but it's
a bit of a co-incidence that both problems occurred at the same time.

If it's only receiving strong signals, then the most likely thing is
that the antenna is not powered. Yes, it does get a phantom supply on
the co-ax. If the radio is not supplying this then you can get an
adapter from places like Halfords which goes in the co-ax line, and
you connect a source of 12v to it.
Can't help on the CD player, but it sounds like an interface problem.

Thanks. Do you know if there's a fuse for the antenna power anywhere? I
think I've traced the CD problem to a blown fuse inside the adapter, and
since both problems occurred at the same time I guess it could be the same
thing.
