Have often wanted to use this in my stuff but don't know how! Short of
sampling long periods of inactivity in vinyl, i'd like an easier, preferably
customiseable way of doing it!

Take an old crackly vinyl. With CE and a ClickFix
plugin, just record the noise off the vinyl.

Then mix this noise track as you like it.
