Is that music shipped or bought, and does it include independents? Other
sources include:

Two key difficulties arise:

1. Pirate CDs. In China (apparently - I went to Shanghai recently) it's
positively unusual to buy a genuine CD (or genuine most things come to
that).

2. Second hand vinyl. Right now, about 100,000 (vs 170,000 CDs) on eBay
UK alone.

If anyone is trying to estimate the popularity of a particular music
format I'd be pretty wary of music industry figures. But a nice little
synopsis as it goes :-)
