A large percentage of 12" 45rpm discs are distributed as promo
material to DJs and radio stations, and so do not feature in sales
figures.
There are a lot of these about. Most are marked "Not for sale"

The TV article I referenced featured youngsters far too young to be doing
anything more than a bit of 'bedroom DJ-ing'

Hmm. That was not the sector I had in mind so I suppose these discs
must be on sale and readily available.

and I gather the Club DJs won't touch anything smaller than 12 inch these
days - and also some of them won't look at a disc with more than one track
per side??

That sounds reasonable. It also echoes back to the days of film music
libraries, who were using vinyl 78s well into the 1970s. They sounded
good, and with one title per side, in a darkened dubbing suite you could
not drop the stylus onto the wrong piece.

Talking of which...

The black speakers are being driven by the SET you can see in the shot,
fed from the Line Out from an SS stack (not in shot) which is driving the
white speakers. So, although this arrangement is to allow day-long
casual/background listening on the SS amp, the same source can be played
simultaneously (and in phase, I think) on both combinations. Either one is
extremely good (SS on the whites is a little tinny by comparison) but both
at once is *devastating*...!!!

(Playing my 'Abduction Of The Art Of Noise' CD at a fairly robust level
was truly a *slapped face* experience!! ;-)

You certainly get your full measure of enjoyment from
your system, Keith. Who said audio wasn't fun?
