Default Another sodding (possibly OT) Show N Tell!! :-)

Those who don't like Show N Tell or *blogging* look away now!!

Offlist, I am getting some serious mentoring from Don, who is leading me
into delicious new territory, fakkin' abaht with recordings and sound
editing/authoring (?? - whatever) - thus, here is my very first *multitrack*
clip:

http://www.apah69.dsl.pipex.com/show...down%20MP3.mp3

(It's small and it's mebbe it's ugly, but it's mine!! :-)

All mine, in fact - two clips of the same clart tune (in case it's hard to
tell) that I recorded on two different occasions with two different sets of
mics in two different *experimental* configurations!! *Not* intended as
anything other than the combining of two separate, unsynchronised tracks
with a common start achieved by very kludgy means!!

Pathetic? Possibly, but an hour or two ago, I had no clue wot this is all
about and I have only had 4 recordings sessions, since I started...!!
(Estimated time to first *commercial* product - 17 years, give or take....!!
;-)

Anyway, the question is: Can anyone recommend a portable, digital two-track
recording gadget that doesn't cost the earth?? I've seen the M-Audio
'MicroTrack' and it's too much money at this stage of the game!

(Waterproof mic not required - I wasn't intending grabbing any
'whalesong'.....??? :-)
