OK, I've sent off my reply to your other post!

I can't answer your specific question about the output of HT amps as I'm not
really into them and don't have much of a clue (we only use the one we've
got in '2 channel stereo' mode!) but you can divvy up the power to the
various speakers in the 'Audio Setup' in most amps in 'front, rear, centre
and sub' modes (as you probably already know). If this doesn't allow you to
set levels exactly as you want them I would suggest you try external means
like matching speakers and subwoofer more carefully to suit and then
fine-tuning with a little external attenuation where necessary. (Ask a
specific question about this if it comes to it - the boffins here will
advise how best to achieve this.)

Shoot me down if I'm wrong here, but if an overpowering subwoofer is the
problem I gather it ain't too hard to get a relatively weedy one??? In any
case, the few subwoofers I have seen all had their own volume controls.
(Yamaha do a fairly cheap range of smallish subs which can be found
secondhand for peanuts, as most people seem to want only the more powerful
models these days.)
