Tone, Volume, Balance &c. controls and is used to feed a 'Slave
Amplifier'

...which is no *power house* but a perfectly useful and very versatile
little amp for only 60 nicker from Argos!!

I use mine to 'gather' signals and route them to a valve amp via the
Line
Out. The only downside is that there is no 'remote volume control'
going
this way and the amp has to be on (with Speakers Off) to enable
switching....


Line Out usually IS affected by all volume/tone controls. Tape Out is
what you have described. At least for most domestic equipment
although there will be exceptions.

I thought line out was line level (2V) and fixed, and headphone out (in
this situation) and speaker out (on sound cards) do the variable thing?
