If you actually end up with a length/impedance situation that requires
cable that large, splice short lengths of smaller wire to the ends. But
you're right, then it will look even more rediculous.
If you were in the situation where 6mm speaker cable was necessary - site
the amps close to the speakers and use balanced connections between
pre-amp and amps.
