Not SACD

So I finally got a universal player and was looking forward to an
afternoon of Miles Davis in surround sound. All of the discs are
marked 'SACD' and one even has '360 Sound' on the label. It turns
out that none of them are dual-layer. They are all just CDs.
The buggers at Columbia Legacy (Sony Music) used the same artwork
for the CDs and SACDs. I guess I'll have to nip down to Tesco and
buy a copy of 'Dark Side of the Moon' for my multichannel fix. :-)

Eiron.
Is it possible you have fake discs or possibly not operating your
player
correctly?
I own hundreds of SACDs, and have yet to find one that is marked as
a SACD
and was indeed not one.
SACD / CD hybrid discs are easy to spot when you check out the
playing side
of the media. It should have that bronze / gold colour, similar to
a double
layered DVD.
Single layer SACDs (Stereo or MC and stereo) without the CD layer
appear
silver in colour - just like a normal CD.
AFAIK there are two MC SACD Miles Davis titles. Both are single
layer (SACD
only - no CD layer)
CS64935 Kind of Blue
CS86556 In a Silent Way
It may also be a daft observation, but SACD's come in a jewel case
with rounded corners, not the usual sharp square things. If your case
corners are rounded then they are almost certainly SACD.
