Default Speaker Recommendation

Hello,

I'm looking to get a new set of speakers, and am trying to get some sort
of idea where I should be looking price wise. They'll be used for music
about 75% of the time, and for home cinema, 25% of the time, and will be
driven by a Denon AVR1804 for now.

My music collection's quite varied, although I'd probably want the best
performance on fairly punchy classical, think Holst's Planet Suite,
Jazz, and instrumental solos, think Dire Straits' Your Latest Trick.
I'd also like something that does a good job rendering speech.

As a starting point, I'm looking at the Quad L-ite package, or the Quad
L2 range (22L2 front, 12L2 surround, L2 centre, L2 sub).

I know it's very difficult to express how subjectively 'good' something
will sound, given the immense price range available for speakers.
Perhaps someone could give me some indication where these speakers sit
in the following range:

Good enough to discern 128kbps mp3 from uncompressed on challenging material

Good enough to discern 320kbps mp3 from uncompressed on challenging material

Additional money better spent improving the acoustics of a typical room

Sufficiently transparent to be inaudibly different from other similarly
priced speakers

Sufficiently transparent to be inaudibly different from a known voice
speaking to you

Obviously I will compare the speakers to others in a similar price
bracket, along with a few more expensive and cheaper models, but I'd
appreciated some guidance first.

Regards,

Chris
