DYNAUDIO...nuff said.

Any particular ranges you'd recommend?

Chris

I've got some 42s and Contour 1.1s. Smashing speakers, and they
generally go for half retail on ebay. Couple of points:

- the Contours sound a fair bit smoother than the 42s, and go a lot
lower;
- IMO they need a powerful amp to drive them properly, but I've not
done a proper blind test, and recent debate in this NG tends to
suggest most modern amps should drive them properly to decent sound
levels;
- they're best a foot or so away from walls

I use them with the telly from time to time, and have a REL sub
(Strata 5). It's all a hoot on films, but I'm not completely sold on
the sub with music.

Dynaudios are a pretty tough buy new - you seem to get very little
for your money. Give them a listen and see what you think. I was in
my local hifi shop recently and the blokey was begging me to listen
to the latest range - I just daren't ;-)

IMO, YMMV etc - have a listen if you can.

Rob

I would certainly agree that Dynaudios are well worth considering. Try
also PMC, ADAM and ATC.

You *are* Stewart (Pinky) Pinkerton and I claim my five pounds...
