Interesting.
I always found Du Pre too overwrought for me and I much preferred the
more restrained approach of Paul Tortelier and Beecham , for example.
I know what you mean, but I guess I tend to be biassed in favour of any
recording where Barbirolli conducted. :-)
I also like the Tortelier version I have, but as you might guess, also the
early Navarra/Barbirolli. :-)
