Well if Wagner's not music then I guess Berio isn't either.

I found the Berio 'interesting'. FWIW I'd prefer to sit though that than
through Wagner. But I appreciate this is a matter of taste. :-)

However did anyone else see the Berio TV broadcast and think it very
strange? The audio imaging and the video images were frequently very out
of kilter (at least for me):

The main thing I found odd was the appearance of 'Cbeebies' animated
graphics during the Berio. I don't know if this was a 'comment' by someone
at the BBC, or another example of his music still being 'avante guard'.

I guess I expected the sound perspective to be 'odd' for the Berio as a
result of its nature.

Anyway it was another good concert (and I won't mention the excellent
Bernstein and Ives symphonies).

I enjoyed the Bernstein, but haven't yet had time to really sit through the
Ives.

I was dissapointed, though, with the picture/sound faults of the Campra
during the earlier concert. These were so irritating during the live sic
broadcast that I recorded the early morning repeat - where the same faults
were duplicated precisely. Maybe someone in the hall was treading on a
vital cable! I had hoped it was local impulse interference on reception,
but not so it seems.

Slainte,

Jim
