True. He was never to my taste in tenor singing, but certainly a
great
spectacle. Bel Canto has always been more my thing than Can Belto.

(Getting in my car a while back I was greeted with Pav's Nessun Dorma
and it's been Pav all the way - if nothing else, what a *performer*

was!!)




That thing must have hung round his neck like an albatross. Suppose
it
made him a rich man, though.


It brought him the "wider audience" recognition that few classical
artists can even dream of.



In one of the online articles I read about him, he stated the Three
Tenors Concert (*them* not *he*) brought 'opera' to an audience of 1.5
(or was it 1.8?) *billion* people!
