Odd that a cable like this is needed to extract the best from the old
2.5mm
t&e!
They could extend the ring main into the amp and save a packet.........

Just remember to top it up with the best quality snake oil before use.
Last year "Hi Fi World" did a comparitive test on mains cables, this is
what they said of the most expensive one (480 pounds):
"The outstanding bass extension and tunefulness of the TCI was soon
evident as it had a wonderful ability to reproduce the timbre
and dynamics of the solo piano playing from 'Beethoven Piano Sonatas'"
... "the lead guitar was also stunning, eliminating the
uncomfortable ringing distortions of the 'Free' mains lead."
Perhaps some-one cleverer that I could explain how a mains cable can do
this unless it was compared to a 100 metre coil of bell
wire on an amp with a totally crap power supply.
If the free cable was of reasonably decent construction (no poor connections
etc) then I can see no possible way in which substituting an outrageously
expensive alternative could possibly alter the sound in any way.
How was their "listening test" conducted I wonder? and who got the
backhanders?
David.
