Yup.

The point of the centre speaker is to lock dialogue to the screen
centre even for members of the audience who are well away from the
sweet spot.


Problem is that speech frequencies are the most critical to the ear so
require a very good match for the third speaker. And most designed for
this job - ie to fit underneath the screen etc - are more often made to
withstand a thrashing.

I bought a very expensive KEF centre speaker which was hopeless as a
match. But now use it as a foldback speaker on pro stuff where a small -
but *very* loud source is needed. ;-)
