Losing all the remotes sounds distinctly dodgy to me...

Thanks for the answer to my query Dave...

For your interest, the system was a shop return and the remotes were
lost whilst the unit was in storage.... replacement remotes via Teac have
been located and a price quoted - but I've yet to get around to purchasing
them...
