Probably not. In fact the differences, such as they are, tend not to
be in overall sound as such. There will be moments when the MP3 gets
caught out, usually when dealing with something noiselike behind
something melodic. It will go harsh. Also if the recording has a lot
of audible background noise - a transcription from vinyl, for example
- you might find that all the MP3's capabilities are taken up with
reproducing that noise adequately, and the quality of the music will
the suffer badly.
