In the church where I am the Res. Engineer, they (not much to my liking,
will rather buy a cheap ZAR600 VHF Wireless Lavalier Microphone that will
only last a year before the cable breaks, etc. And that they will just get
another cheapie when this one breaks (about every year).
as these cheap units run at about 200Mhz, and are NON diversity, they have
several problems :
1 Frequent dropouts
2 Constant Hiss (that can be heard on the CD recordings of the service)
3 Amplitude Fluctuations,
4 Even when a ceiling fan is turned on in the Auditorium, the rotational
frequency of the 3 Metal blades affects the signal (with the signal and
amplitude being affected - chopping type sound.)
5 If the preacher turns so that their body is between the Transmitter, and
its associated (Microphone wire) antenna, then dropouts are more frequent
6 With one preacher the Mic will NEVER work with him, Continuous Hiss and
Dropouts Every time he uses the Mic (Maybe his underwear causing too much
static.
I have been recommending to them that they get a Decent (Shure / Akg
/Senheisser?) UHF Diversity Lav, but it seems to be above their budget.
So, I plead with you, please convince your brother to get a decent UHF
Diversity System.
Last time I was in a church (about 1960), the charlatan didn't need a
microphone. He just spoke up and everybody could hear him dribbling
down his chin. Why the **** does this crap have to be recorded? Isn't
it bad enough that it gets heard even once?
