Might be worth reporting the theft to the police. Whilst in their hands
they had a duty of care not to 'lose' it. Having 'lost' it, it becomes
there reponsibility to give you a payment for the loss if they can't find
it when the police turn up. You could also report them to your insurance co
if you were claiming.
Having 'lost' it, I wonder how they could provide any evidence that it was
actually faulty... or that they did *not* sell it on and pocket the money.
The external auditors may also wonder about such a 'loss' unbalancing
their books.
Mind you, I doubt the police would do anything. My impression is that best
'action' you ever get is a 'crime number' almost regardless of what is
reported.
