I only have the one HDMI output on the Virgin box.

Does your TV have a pair of phono sockets for audio out?
The easiest method is to connect those to an audio amp.
If the Virgin box has separate analog audio out you will have lipsynch
problems
due to the ~100ms picture delay on a digital TV.
