Shame that you decided to tell him that I'd call him "witless and
incompetent". Particularly when it later became clear that you didn't
understand what I'd actually said. (And apparently still don't from what
you now write.) Or if you didn't tell him this, when was he reading the
group to form his own impression independent of what you told him?

I can quite understand that others may not even bother to try reading if
you misrepresent what is said.
