Default Quad service

"Miguel"

Do folks have any recent experience of Quad (Huntingdon) service since
they became IAG? I will phone them about my Quad 44 which could use a
"tune-up" after 22 years or so.

** Any competent audio tech should be able to give your Quad 44 a 22 year or
22,000 mile service.

Amazingly my ESL 63s of similar
vintage still seem very good (but of course my ears are that much
older too!) Anyway, no audible distortion and thay remain crisp and
seem well balanced still. But they have never been driven very hard.

** Never transport them anywhere - it will be the death if them if you do.

Old ESL63s are as fragile as eggs.

Horror story of the day: the father of a friend who decided that his
ESL63 speakers, still in perfect working order, took up too much room
disposed of them in a skip. I am suffering PTSD after hearing this;
they still fetch a good price.

** Way more then they are sensibly worth, cos they will likely not survive
the trip to a new owner's premises - unless it is within carrying range.

No such issues with the old ESL57s.

And I have owned both.
