One of the things that distinguishes the more insightful people around is
their ability to distinguish between what is best for a given situation,
and
what they prefer. For example I might prefer red fire trucks, but if
there
is general wisdom that green fire trucks are less likely to have traffic
accidents then I will happily subordinate my preference for red to what
works best in this situation.
That is the problem. *Despite* the general wisdom I prefer LP.
Based on what?
However, I wouldn't accept that 'which sounds best' necessarily has much
grounding in anything especially scientific.
It is well established that the most widely supported generated is to prefer
the most accurate reproduction.
I do accept that measured aspects of CD sound are better, but that isn't
the same as listening to music.
That's a position that seems to be held by a noisy but tiny minority.
And your example (well intended) doesn't address an important point - why
might you prefer red?
As long as it is just a preference for a narrow category, it seems hard to
find any problems with it.
You know why I prefer LPs - it gives me something tangible - a better
listening experience. Whoops :-)
That's a position that seems to be held by a noisy but tiny minority.
As opposed to the position held by the [scientific] pedants [you know who you are].
Anyway keep dancing chappies, you're doing a great job.
