OK, the eBench KH 6777 I acquired yesterday most certainly *does* play
MP3s
from the root (doing it right this moment). Won't look at a DVD+RW with
Mp3s
on it though! In fact, I'm trying to disregard a certain amount of
'honeymoon euphoria' with this machine - atm it's appearing to be the
best
spinner I've heard since Nick Gorham's NuVista (the only CDP that I've
heard
to date with any real 'tone' or 'weight')!
It does have bizarrely good CD playback doesn't it. I've just hooked it
up to my WAD Kel 84 and it's giving my Planet 2000 a run for its money.
Odd. I'm in a bit of a honeymoon period with it too - though its failure
to read a DVD-R of mp3s has relegated it to DVD duties only (I have an
EM8500 based dvd player which plays mp3, wma and ogg from dvd-r!)
Only issue I have with the KH6777 is that the PAL progressive output is
slightly left shifted resulting in a narrow (5 pixel width) black line
at the right edge of the screen with anamorphic material. Mind you it's
a small price to pay for real 576p!

I use a harmann kardon, and on my tv in pal prog it was shifted down to the
right, i went into the service menu of my tv and fixed it in a few seconds,
appeared that the pal progressive hadnt been setup at all. so it me not be
the dvd player
