I have a Mission Cyrus 1 amp, that has been working very nicely for the
last 24 years (what a good investment that was, back in 1988).
I need a new CD player, and I would like to get one of the shoe-box
sized Cyrus ones to match the amp, mainly for aesthetic reasons.
Which model would be most appropriate? I'll buy it second-hand, and
would prefer to spend £200 at the absolute maximum.
I don't know of a lookalike - so any of the many on ebay for £100-200.
The key variables appear to be power supply, DAC and connectivity. I'm
really not sure if any of these make a difference to sound. IME CD
players can sound *different* - others on this NG might be able to
explain why.
I'd also be concerned about serviceability with a SH CD player,
especially availability of the tray/laser parts. But I'd expect Mission
to be better than most.
As an aside, I haven't played a CD in years, except MP3 CDs in the car.
All on a hard disk now.

As it happens I've been looking at them myself this week, specifically
this one

Which has had a recent service. But what's holding things up is, as you
said, how often do you listen to a CD?
I bought a second hand Marantz about 12 years ago from ebay and it
lasted well. But then it was 19 quid...
