Just to let people know I've now put two different stereo audio recorder
programs I've written on my website. They're available from.
http://www.audiomisc.co.uk/software/index.html
The source code is included as usual. Plus a 'help' text file.
There are two versions:
USBAudioRecorder. Works with USB Audio Class 1/2 compliant ADCs with
RISC OS machines with a suitable USB interface. At present you need to add
some other modules for this to work. Details on the above webpage.
ROXAudioRecorder. Works with Linux distributions. Provided as a ROX app,
but will work with other desktops/filers. Uses the standard ALSA interface
so should work for most audio capture hardware and distros.
I've used both for capturing up to 192k/24bit, and they should work for
higher rates and 32bit. But I've not yet tested that fully. Should also
work for DoP/DSD, but again I've not yet tested that.
Both programs are deliberately simple. Just two controls. 'R' to record.
'Q' to quit. Saves a LPCM wave file with no tampering or data alterations
except for removing any 'padding' zero bytes which some ADCs add for
transfers. Both programs provide a PPM-like display (dB scale) to aid
monitoring levels.
Cheers,
Jim
