I wonder if anyone can help me.
I find myself in a very expensive position where I need to buy a new
HiFi system, TV and computer. My aim is that I buy kit that can all
communicate with each other. However, I want to do this without wires.
I know I can buy a computer that has a WiFi router/server/whatever
that can communicate with other computers. Is it possible to buy a TV
and a HiFi amplifier which can also send and receive their output
using WiFi?
My aim is that I can watch TV and the audio comes through my HiFi/home
cinema system using WiFi. Or I have MP3s my friend brings round on a
USB key and I can play them on the computer through the HiFi using
WiFi. Or I want to record a TV program on my computer using WiFi. Or I
want to record my old audio cassetes onto CD using my stereo
connected to my computer via WiFi. Or I want to watch a DVD on a
second TV.
I know I could buy a computer with a TV card, DVD harddrive recorder,
HiFi CD burner and link everything up with wires, but I would prefer
to buy as little as possible and ensure that I can manipulate and
manage stuff.
Mark,
What you want to do is, I think, becoming feasible, but perhaps not exactly
as you describe. Here are some things to look at, in approximate order of
direct relevance to your question:

However, I think you're asking this question in the wrong pace. You might do
better to ask this question in the Ars Tecnica forums, eg he

Best of luck with this project.
